Saltwater – May 1st through May 15th is the trophy Rockfish season. During this time 1 fish, 36 minimum lengths, may be kept. May 16th through June 15th has a 2 fish slot limit of 20-28inches. During the slot limit period, 1 fish over 36inches may be kept in the daily limit. However, anglers must have a Rockfish permit to keep trophy fish, and they must report their catches. Saltwater- The Tautog is red hot right now inside the bay, but the season closes May 1st, so get them while you can. Live fiddlers and blue crabs are the best baits. The shallows on the seaside of the Eastern Shore are attracting large Red Drum. Black drum are also being caught, but the Reds are averaging much bigger. Saltwater – Tautog action remains very good. Trophy sized fish are caught almost daily. Live crabs and clams are the baits to use. Both Red and Black Drum have showed up in the shallows of the Eastern Shore, Crabs and fresh cut bait are tops. Some Flounder have been caught, but locations have not been disclosed. Saltwater- Catches of Tautog are being made inside the bay at the CBBT. Wrecks in the Cape Henry area are also producing Togs. Things are still quiet on the Flounder action so far, but we know this will break soon. Big news now is the huge Bluefin Tuna being caught and weighed in at Rudee Inlet.
