Chesapeake Bay  – The Cobia bite is hot! Many reports of large fish are occurring daily. Chuck Adcock of Beaverdam and Scott Hey of Richmond caught 9 Cobia up to 50lbs over the last week. They employed both chumming and sight casting with live Croaker on both sides of the CBBT. The west side of the bay, like York Spit and Bluefish Rock, have been good for chumming for large Cobia. Chesapeake Bay – Cobia action continues to increase as more fish move into the bay. Chumming and bottom fishing has probably been a little more productive, but sight casting is coming on strong. Casting both live and artificial bait has been yielding results. Flounder anglers are enjoying better catches every day. Fish up tp 8lbs have been reported this week. Jigging bucktails over structures like the CBBT and artificial reefs like Back River Reef, are yielding quality fish. Some are reporting catching fish in shallow bays like Lynnhaven. Chesapeake Bay-  Lots of Cobia are being encountered by both sight fishermen and bottom anglers using live and cut bait. Fish are both inside the bay and along the Oceanfront. Jim Miller of Henrico used eels to catch Cobia up to 48″. Chumming is also effective. Some anglers targeting Cobia are coming up with big Red Drum. Saltwater – Big Rockfish are being caught in the mid to upper bay, especially inside the Potomac River. Josh Lewis and Tiffany Childress of Lakeside fished out of Coan River Marina and boated 6 Rockfish – 36” – 40” on Chartreuse buckails. Also, a recent Rockfish tournament was won with a 48lber, caught by a Maryland angler. Schoolie Rocks are being caught at the MMBT.
