CHESAPEAKE BAY – Croaker are being caught all over the bay, but better catches are coming from inside the rivers like the York, James, Piankatank, and Rappahannock. CHESAPEAKE BAY – The second half of the bay Rockfish season opened May 16th. The minimum size is 18” and maximum size is 28”. 2 fish per angler is the limit, however 1 fish kept may be over 32”. Fish over 32” must be reported to the Va. Saltwater Journal. Anglers continue to catch Rockfish in all of Va’s tributaries of the bay. CHESAPEAKE BAY – Trophy Rockfish season is still in effect in Va waters. Big fish are still available inside the rivers, especially the James, where we reported a 70lb+ Rockfish caught within the city limits last week. Big fish are being caught inside the Potomac River still. Tandem rigs are quite popular now. Croaker catches are on the rise inside the York River, at the JRB, HRBT, and the Poquoson area. CHESAPEAKE BAY – Trophy Rockfish season opened on 5-1 for the Chesapeake Bay and it’s Va. tributaries. 1 fish at a 32”minimum can be kept, but must be reported to the Va. Saltwater Journal. Rockfish over 32” are being caught in good numbers inside the James, Rappahannock, and York Rivers.
